Nothing Holding Me Back

The miracle of salvation began in a manger more than two thousand years ago with the birth of a baby boy to a virgin named Mary and a carpenter named Joseph. It was an event so crucial to humanity that it literally split time in half and changed the world forever. That baby boy grew and matured into a person who was fully God and fully man. Ever mindful of His mission, at the age of twelve He asked His parents why they didn’t seem to understand that He had to be in His Father’s house. He knew His mission. He knew everything, and yet, He humbled Himself and became obedient even to the point of death on a cross because He was not willing that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.

The song for Easter is entitled “Nothing Holding Me Back” and is a simple acknowledgement of the fact that Jesus gave everything up for us including His deity, His oneness with the Father, if only briefly, and ultimately His own blood. He not only carried His own cross, but the sin weight of the entire world past, present, and future. This was not something He did out of duty or responsibility, but something that was done completely and fully out of the purest love imaginable. Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends. He did just that. But the story doesn’t end there. After 3 days in the tomb, He ripped the chains of death and destroyed forever the hold that sin had on every human being on earth. The miracle of Easter is not only the sacrifice, but the resurrection. It laid all fear and doubt to rest once and for all and paved the way to an eternity with God in Heaven for all those who believe.
This song is as simple as they come. But it speaks a powerful truth in the very act of just saying………Thank you!

Thank you for the cross that You have carried
Thank you for Your blood that was shed
You took the weight of sin upon Your shoulders
And sacrificed Your life that I could live
No nothing is Holding me back from You
