Men’s Bible Study – The Ready Word

The Ready Word

This week we continued in a study where we looked to answer questions that the world asks about Chrisianity. Last week we Looked at what is Christianity? This week we went deeper and and asked three questions:

What makes Christianity special over other religions?

Who is Jesus? What makes him different from other religious leaders like Buddha or Muhammad?

Why do you need to be saved? How do you become saved?

Here are some answers to these questions so that we can be ready in season and out.

What makes Christianity special over other religions? The Difference between Christianity and other religions is how a person becomes acceptable to God. In every other religion there is a process or code to observe in which the person achieves some sort of merit worthy of being acceptable to God. In Christianity there is no method to God except being perfect from birth. As our life progresses it is clear to see that we are not perfect and therefore fall short of attaining a merit acceptable to God. In Christianity God reaches down to us who are unworthy to attain this merit on our own and achieves it for us as a gift to us. This is the redeeming grace of Jesus dying on a cross and raising again the third day. Christ imputes His perfection on us when we simply put our faith in His work. Christianity is different because God does the work of redemption not man.

Who is Jesus? What makes him different from other religious leaders like Buddha or Muhammad? Jesus is the Son of God, the Jewish messiah, the redeeming savior and Lord and creator of all. He is different from every other religious leader in His Preeminence; He is God where as other leader’s only claim to speak for God. He is mighty in both deed and word. He healed countless sick, blind, lame, mute maimed and even rose the dead including Himself. He calmed the roaring sea; He walked across the roaring see. He spoke with authority the words of life; He is the Word of life that was with the Father in the beginning. He is more than a teacher, or guru, more than a prophet or revelator. He is thee way, thee truth and thee light, nothing was made that he didn’t make.

Why do you need to be saved? How do you become saved? People need to be saved because the human race as a whole is separated from God. From the first man and woman Adam and eve until today, man has had a problem with sin. Since the time of Adam eating the fruit we as a people have but separated from God and thus though physically alive for a time we are spiritual dead. Being saved then is becoming alive again through the work that Jesus performed on the cross and His raising from the dead three days later. Becoming saved is the simplest thing a person can do. It is likened to acting like a child and merely believing in what Jesus has done for us. Romans 10:9-10 it says that we confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus and believe in our hearts that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
